Friday, September 23, 2005 : Ixion
Tonight I'm dancing with Ixion Burlesque. Info this a-way. I never would have started dancing if it wasn't for Albert Garzon, the founder. One day, I was hanging at one of those galleries that specializes in plastic baby heads smeared in red paint, when Albert walked in. I had a Toulouse Lautrec fantasy. I wanted to do burlesque posters.
Albert had a troupe. He needed posters done.
I can't dance. No sense of rhythm whatsoever. So I rely on all the schtiky gimmicks of burlesque. I tease my hair big. I put on four inch heels and three inch fake lashes, and sew lots of beading onto my dress. Mostly, people applaud. I think the bar for dancers with sequined nipple covers is pretty low.
Backstage makes up for not having any knack fro performing. Here you are, surrounded by glitter and girlflesh, sucking a cigarette. You remember all the times that you snuck into clubs with fake ID's and wanted to chat with the band backstage-who, you were sure, would understand you much better than your parents. And as you sit applying the third coat of glitter to your eyelids, you feel much cooler than all the kids who snubbed you in high school.
The only thing that would make my day is getting roses.
If someone delivered me roses backstage, I promise to pay them the price of the roses afterwards. Because getting roses after a burlesque show would make me feel just that cool.

Tuesday, August 23, 2005 : Class with a capital K
So, after a good year at writing my personal life on the internet, I figured it was time to get a proper blog. Sure, LJ's nice and all, but it still says 15 year old goth girl all over. I knew it was time for something different. Something sleek and professional. Something that says class with a capital K.
Welcome to my proper, blogger blog.
Now, I just need to think of sleek and professional things to say.
